Two members of the CompMech Group, Prof. Michele Conti and Dr. Simone Morganti, were awarded two “Ricerca Finalizzata – Giovani Ricercatori” grants last week.
Prof. Michele Conti participated together with Dr. Mauro Lo Rito, pediatric heart surgeon at Policlinico San Donato Hospital and received funding to work in the development of innovative computational methodologies for the diagnosis of a rare coronary artery disease.
Dr. Simone Morganti was the winner, together with Dr. Giovanni Spinella and Dr. Marco Canepa, vascular surgeon and cardiologist, respectively, at the Policlinico San Martino in Genoa, of a project that aims to evaluate, through advanced computational methodologies, the impact of endovascular implants on cardiac function.
In addition to these two achievements, two other projects presented by CompMech Group researchers were in excellent positions in the ranking. The project of Prof. Ferdinando Auricchio, in the “senior” category for the study of TAVR valve mechanics, and the one presented by Dr. Rodrigo M. Romarowski in the “Starting Grant” category, with the aim of analyzing aortic diseases through fluid-dynamic simulations.
The CompMech Group has already achieved positive results in previous calls for “Ricerca Finalizzata” projects being the winner in 5 past editions. For further information, visit the research projects webpage.
