We are pleased to announce that our CompMech member, Dr. Giulia Scalet, has been awarded the 2020 Young Researchers Prize in the Engineering sector for her contribution to the modeling of advanced shape memory structures.
The prize has been instituted by the 2003 Group for Scientific Research to award ten young researchers in ten different macro-areas (agriculture; food and nutrition; environment; astrophysics and space; biomedicine and drugs; COVID-19; oncology; engineering; artificial intelligence and big data; physics, mathematics and computer science), who work in Italy and contributed to an impactful paper.
Dr. Giulia Scalet is assistant professor of Solids and Structural Mechanics, within the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia, and member of the Computational Mechanics & Advanced Materials Group.
The results have been published in the work “A three-dimensional phenomenological model for shape memory alloys including two-way shape memory effect and plasticity“ in Mechanics of Materials and come from an open collaboration between the CompMech Group (Dr. Giulia Scalet, Prof. Ferdinando Auricchio), the University of Calabria (Prof. Carmine Maletta), the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) (Dr. Fabrizio Niccoli, Dr. Cedric Garion, Dr. Paolo Chiggiato).
The award ceremony will take place on October 28th, 2020 in virtual mode.
