Within the PhD Course in Design, Modeling and Simulation in Engineering held at the University of Pavia, a new initiative, called “Piola Lecture”, has been launched, starting from last year: it has been thought to celebrate Gabriele Piola, a very important name in the Computational Mechanics world but, first of all, student of the University of Pavia.
The “Piola Lecture” is given on a yearly basis by world famous researchers in the Computational Mechanics, Structure and Material field.
The second lecture, that took place on May 21st, 2018 in Aula Foscolo, has been taught by Prof. Robert L. Taylor, from University of California, Berkeley, for sure one of the most famous researchers in the Computational Mechanics field and member of the National Academy of Engineering.
A more detailed overview of his acknowledgements can be found here.
