“Piola Lecture” at the University of Pavia
On April 20th Prof. Peter Wriggers from the Leibniz University of Hannover delivered the “Piola Lecture” at the University of Pavia within the PhD Program in “Design, Modeling, and Simulation in Engineering”.
In memory of Gabrio Piola (1794-1850), former student of the University of Pavia, the “Piola Lecture” is awarded to outstanding, internationally recognized, scientists in the fields of Computational Mechanics or Mechanics of Structures and Materials.
This is the 5th edition of the award. The previous “Piola Lectures” were addressed in 2017 by Prof. Thomas J.R. Hughes of the University of Texas at Austin (USA), in 2018 by Prof. Robert L. Taylor of the University of California Berkeley (USA), in 2019 by Prof. Eugenio Oñate of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), in 2020 by Prof. Ernst Rank of the Technical University of Munich (Germany).
