The program of the doctoral school aims at training doctoral students with strong scientific and/or professional capabilities on Computational Mechanics and Engineering of Materials, and, in general, on Civil and Industrial Engineering as well as Applied Mathematics. The key areas of study include all aspects of modeling and simulation of structures and materials, ranging from structural engineering to biomedical fields, always following a rigorous approach from a mathematical and a theoretical point of view. Basic elements of the training are interdisciplinary, international experience, the constant reference to the most advanced research and the attention to both theoretical and applied aspects. Natural reservoir for the selection of PhD students will be the IUSS and the University of Pavia, but also the best worldwide Engineering and Mathematics schools, thanks to the strong international characterization of the program, to the contribution of top level Professors and to the strong partnerships (many of which are already well-established) with world’s top research centers in the field of Computational Mechanics.
