Ing. Formato @ UCBM attending International School of Biomechanics

Treating the most challenging diseases to face the current healthcare problems requires the integration and synergy of multidisciplinary approaches. Biomechanical engineers can help understand the pathophysiology of complex biological processes, but the effectiveness of their research can be enormously increased through integration of multiple scientific fields.

Our Compmech Group member, Eng. Giovanni Maria Formato has won a Student Travel Grant to participate to the “International School of Imaging, Modelling and Simulation in Biomechanics”, organized by Campus-Biomedico University of Rome in collaboration with the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the Leibniz Universität Hannover.

The School aimed at delivering an Advanced Training Program in Biomechanics and Mechanobiology by renowned expert scientists from Biomedical Imaging, Theoretical Biology and Biomechanics, Computational Mechanics and in-silico biomechanical analyses for the Clinical Practice.

Giovanni Maria Formato’s PhD project focuses on the fluid dynamic analysis of carotid artery stenting through immersed approach, and he will integrate what learnt from different expertise to better understand the complex mechanisms and risks involved in this procedure.
