From 17 to 19 September 2025, our CompMech members – Giulia Formenton, Luigi Greco, Hugo
Verhelst, Lucas Venta Viñuela, and Angelos Pagonas – took part in the 8th ECCOMAS Young Investigators Conference, held in Pescara.

Our group’s strong participation included the organization of two minisymposia: “Cardiovascular
tissues: from the characterisation to the modeling”, chaired by Giulia Formenton, and “High-order
and advanced discretization methods for complex problems”, chaired by Luigi Greco.

During the conference, the PhD Olympia competition also took place, where Hugo Verhelst was
awarded first prize for his doctoral thesis, “Isogeometric Analysis of Wrinkling”, completed at Delft
University.
